3.     Timeshares may also be available for rent, even if you do not belong to a timeshare club.  Many time shares are at resort type communities and offer all the amenities necessary for a vacation or extended stay.

 

4.     Some individuals also end up paying nothing by house swapping.  This is where you stay in someone else’s home at your desired location, and someone else stays at your home.  This is not for everyone, but the savings are considerable.  Home-swapping web sites include: HomeLink.org, HomeExchange.com and Intervac.com.

 

5.     Renting a room or rooms at a bed and breakfast can also be fun, and the savings on food can be nice, particularly if you like a big breakfast.

 

6.     And there is always the adventuresome approach of renting an RV or camper and staying at campsites.  Often state and national parks will also have cabins for rent.
