Getting Theme Park Discounts (continued)
2. Discounts are usually also available if you buy your entrance tickets ahead

4. Discounts may also be available as part of a “stay and play” hotel package. The hotel business is so competitive at places like Disney World that many hotels will include significantly discounted admission tickets to get your business.

6. Sometimes during special events (or even year round) at the parks honoring certain groups, such as members of the military, discounted tickets are available for members of those groups and their families.
7. In any case, even if you do not get a large discount, having your tickets available ahead of time allows you to avoid potentially long lines at the park.
Saving on Lodging at Attractions
Hotel accommodations at and around the major theme parks can be quite expensive, or very inexpensive, depending on the quality of room you want, location of the room and the time of year.
1. The best way to get a nice room at your ideal location at a reasonable price, is to visit the theme park in off season. Since the number of rooms near the theme park does not change given the time of the year, but the number of people visiting does change, the price and availability of hotel rooms fluctuates greatly. So, if you can, be sure to visit in the off season to save a great deal of money, and enjoy a less crowded park. For Disney World, October and May seem to be the most affordable.
2. Disney World also has a special marketing campaign called “Walt Disney World’s
Wonderful Weeks of Disney” targeted to visitors who can visit during off-
3. Theme parks, like Disney World, have hotel accommodations inside the park.
These are generally fairly expensive, given the nature of the room, although some
rooms are “reasonably” priced. In addition to the “wow” factor, staying inside the
park generally has two advantages. During the day, if you need to go back to the
room, particularly with smaller children, it is much easier to do if you are staying
in the park. Also, most of the time, staying in the park provides free parking,
which can be a considerable saving. In addition to staying onsite, Disney World
also offers several independent hotels that provide some of the benefits of the in-
4. However, staying outside the park can result in very large savings and a much nicer room, especially during the off season. Virtually all of the hotels around theme parks run specials. Some planning ahead, and diligent use of the Internet, should allow you to uncover some great bargains. Keep in mind, if you are going to the Orlando area and are visiting Disney World as well as Universal Studios, you will probably find better hotel deals in the Disney area. Most hotels in the greater Orlando area will offer shuttle service to both Disney World and the other major theme parks. But make sure you check.
5. More extensive travel packages to theme parks are also available, which can include air fare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, admissions and even some meals. These packages are available from several sources, including the theme parks themselves, and most all travel sites and travel agencies. If what they provide is a good match for the services you want, they may be a great deal, saving you a considerable amount of money. But make sure you are not paying for a lot of features that you really do not want.
